**Job Title: Background Investigator**
**Location:** Tucson, AZ (Applicants must reside within 25 miles of the city center)
**Job Type:** Full-time
**Responsibilities**
We are seeking a dedicated and thorough Background Investigator to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the following:
- Successfully completing a comprehensive 6-7 week training program, both virtual and in-person, to become certified in Federal Investigative Standards for government background investigations.
- Conducting daily local travel to perform in-person background investigations, assessing employment suitability for individuals requiring access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information.
- Scheduling and conducting face-to-face interviews with subjects and their associates, including neighbors, employers, friends, and family.
- Performing record searches at various institutions such as police agencies, courthouses, educational and financial institutions, and medical/mental health facilities.
- Documenting and reporting all gathered information clearly and concisely on a government-issued computer system.
- Working independently while also collaborating with a team of investigators and a field manager.
**Qualifications**
*Required:*
- Four years of general work experience or a bachelor's degree. Preference will be given to candidates with experience conducting DCSA/NBIB or other federal background investigations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret eligible clearance. An active federal background investigation with a T5 adjudication is preferred.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Daily local travel and occasional out-of-town travel required.
- Home office setup is necessary.
- Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY) ranging from 14-30 days away from home may be required.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and sufficient motor vehicle insurance.
- Proficient typing skills (40+ WPM recommended) and ability to multitask within various computer programs.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, ethics, and integrity.
- Physical demands include lifting up to 10 pounds, climbing stairs, extensive walking, prolonged standing, and driving in various conditions.

**Target Salary Range**
The typical pay for this position is $23.30 per hour, based on experience and other factors.
