Job Description

Lighthouse Lab Services seeks a full-time Clinical Toxicology Laboratory Technician (Screening Analyst) for an established Toxicology Laboratory in Greenville, NC

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Clinical Toxicology Laboratory Technician (Screening Analyst) to join our laboratory team. This position is responsible for performing toxicology screening tests to detect the presence of drugs and other substances in biological samples. The Screening Analyst will utilize immunoassay and other preliminary testing methods but will not be involved in the confirmation testing process.

Essential Functions & Basic Duties

  • Perform routine toxicology screening tests on biological specimens (e.g., urine, blood, saliva) using immunoassay, enzymatic, and other preliminary testing methods.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment such as automated immunoassay analyzers.
  • Prepare reagents, quality control materials, and specimens for analysis.
  • Conduct quality control and quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines (e.g., CLIA, CAP, SAMHSA) for sample handling, processing, and testing.
  • Document and report screening results accurately while ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols.
  • Identify and troubleshoot basic instrument or testing issues, escalating complex problems to senior staff or laboratory management as needed.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, logs, and data entry into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Work collaboratively with confirmation analysts, supervisors, and other lab personnel to ensure seamless workflow.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized laboratory workspace.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a clinical or toxicology laboratory setting is preferred but not required.
    • Technical Skills: Familiarity with immunoassay-based screening techniques.
    • Basic knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and troubleshooting.
    • Understanding of laboratory safety and compliance regulations.
    • Other Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise protocols.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Effective communication skills for documentation and collaboration.

Shift, Salary, Benefits

  • 1st shift Monday-Friday
  • Pay rate: $20-25/hr (depending on experience)
