Job Description

This role is for someone looking to u se th eir overall events and logistics skills in a fast paced, diverse environment. The Events Manager will assist the Events Team in producing their ambitious calendar of events designed to elevate Boston Globe Media’s brands, in particular, Globe Events, and increase revenue while fostering a connection with the community. 

This role will work closely with the Director of Events.

Responsibilities 

  • Managing the staffing of the events and handling staff on-site
  • Creating and manage a run of show and other materials needed by moderators, panelists, vendors, guests, and staff pre-event
  • Ensuring the BGM Events team has all necessary materials to execute the event as promised
  • Own the creation and development of recap presentations post-event for sponsors
  • Own internal event metrics and record-keeping
  • Manage certain live and virtual events on-site/line from beginning to end while also responsible for staff members and their tasks 
  • Manage event registration pages, guest lists, and oversee creation of event marketing assets
  • Track events and attendee data after each event and use it to improve events going forward, internally and for sponsors
  • Contribute to planning and promotional marketing meetings by vocalizing ideas to improve existing and upcoming events
  • Work with outside vendors professionally; maintaining relationships with key groups, services, venues, etc. and managing booking appropriate vendors for event needs
  • Efficiently multitask while staying organized, whether working independently or within the team
  • Collaborate on development of sales pitch decks, including presentation design and research into relevant audiences and data 
  • Communicate professionally and promptly with clients and external partners as needed

Qualifications :

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong organization and communication skills, including project management
  • Ability to work independently and also on a team
  • Ability to work in the BGM Boston Office, and occasional nights and weekends as needed 
  • Has a willingness to adapt, be audience and client focused with a curious mindset and committed to creating an inclusive work environment 
  • Experience managing staff
  • Bonus points for experience with hybrid events 

The BGMP office is located in downtown Boston, near Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, and is easily accessible by MBTA and commuter rail lines. This position is based in Boston, and candidates should be based in the area or willing to move.
