Schweiger Vineyards is looking for a cellar intern for the 2025 harvest season!
Schweiger Vineyards is a small, family owned and operated vineyard and winery located at the top of the Spring Mountain District in the Napa Valley. Sitting at 2000 feet elevation, our 55-acre property produces small lot Bordeaux and Burgundy varietals that are hand harvested, processed on site and then aged for up to three years in 100% French oak.
Schweiger Vineyards is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled worker to perform cellar tasks during the 2025 harvest season. Ideal candidates would show a positive attitude, willingness to learn and strong attention to detail while working one-on-one with the winemaking team. You would perform a wide range of daily harvest duties including, but not limited to, those listed below:
Responsibilities:
• Vineyard sampling to ensure grape maturity
• Winery equipment set up, clean up and sanitation including destemmer, press, pumps, tanks, buckets, hoses and other tools
• Grape processing
• Punchdowns and pumpovers
• Cellar additions of yeast, acid, nutrients and sulfur
• Racking and tank transfers
• Barreling down
• Topping and stirring barrels
Minimum Requirements:
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time (8+ hours)
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to work 6+ days a week, sometimes for extended hours ranging from August to November/December
• Ability to take all safety measures required when working with strong chemicals including strong caustic and acids as well as sulfur dioxide
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal
• Forklift experience is a plus, but not required
Compensation: $20-$23 an hour DOE. Overtime available.
