The US Financial Institutions Group (FIG) covers institutional clients across Banks, Broker-Dealers, Fintech, Funds & Asset Managers, Bank Companies, and Bank Brokers who are based in the US, Canada and Bermuda. ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­

About US FIG Banks Coverage

The Banks Corporate Banking Coverage team covers clients within the Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) classified as regional, national and global banks. The International Corporate Bank provides a suite of transaction banking products including trade, cash management, clearing, debt and FX to institutional and corporate clients globally. The team is responsible for client coverage, revenue generation, coordination and management of credit commitments, in addition to governance of the Bank relationships in the portfolio. The team works closely with stakeholders across the FIG product suite, Credit, Compliance, Operations, Barclaycard (Card & Payments), and the Investment Bank.

Overall purpose of role

The position is a client relationship management role in the International Corporate Bank (ICB). The banker will represent our Banks banking practice. He/She will be responsible for delivering a broad range of corporate and investment banking solutions to a diverse group of Financial Institutions within the Banking sector. The role has heavy emphasis on idea generation and business development. The ability to collaborate with coverage partners across geographies and time zones, as well as coordination with Investment Banking and Markets teams is required for success. The role requires an experienced banker capable of driving business and making meaningful connections with Senior level treasury and bank relations management and key decision makers for the assigned portfolio. The successful candidate should have strong payments, corporate finance, credit and treasury services expertise and strong transaction execution skills. In addition to client coverage, the ability to drive strategy with Barclays’ governance framework and risk tolerance, and lead a team of junior and senior bankers is an integral part of the role.

Key Accountabilities

- Initiate and maintain strategic dialogue with clients across core ICB platform capabilities, identifying and executing on opportunities that increase wallet share while delivering the appropriate financial returns

- Collaborate the client coverage efforts of multiple internal business partners

- Coordinate CIB balance sheet commitments with regional and global partners, including credit and loan syndication teams

- Strictly comply with all regulatory and Barclays rules, policies, and procedures

- Make an active contribution to Barclays International’s culture and community

- Own, manage and deliver against ICBA business objectives (revenue, cost and broader KPI’s)

- Contribute to key commercial decision making and demonstrate sound commercial judgement complemented by appropriate risk awareness

- Identify and present growth opportunities to the Head of ICBA FIG and global FIG leadership

- Demonstrating general knowledge of international payments regulation (focus on US, UK, Europe, India and UAE) and Anti-money laundering/compliance best practices.

- Completing Due Diligence on high, medium and low risk clients

- Delivering continuous improvements to BAU high risk governance process and procedures for the sector

- Taking ownership of high quality objective credit applications, ensure robust ongoing monitoring and control and that sound judgement is exercised at all times.

- Building an effective working partnership with credit colleagues

- Ensure compliance with mandatory Risk policies and procedures relating to credit conformance and regulatory, operational, legal risk and Financial Crime.

- Managing ‘Early warning list’ customers to reduce risk, ensuring proactive and timely referral to Credit and Business Support colleagues.

- Responsible for embedding a clearly articulated risk culture within CIB which reflects Barclays Purpose and Values

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree or MBA preferred

- Prior Credit Risk Accreditation required

- Minimum of 10 years of experience of CIB relationship coverage, delivering corporate banking products and services to Banks sector clients

- Specialized knowledge of the Banks sector including financial statement analysis, credit analysis, and experience in loan/trade origination and deal execution to the Banks sector

- Excellent communication and presentation skills
