Job Summary:
Under the direction of a Security Supervisor, the Security Guard position is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for Shrub Oak International School's students, staff, parents and visitors, as well as protecting the assets owned or controlled by Shrub Oak International School. The Security Guard will be responsible for patrolling the campus and monitoring the premises via direct observation and CCTV. Having access to confidential information, discretion and independent judgement is required.
Position Type & Expected Hours of Work
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday 4pm to 12am | with one overnight shift: Sat 12am to 8am
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Perform daily security functions as assigned/needed
Respond to safety or emergency situations
Attend security and safety related trainings and drills,
Implement all emergency response and business continuity plans as required
Assist in the documentation of incidents related to physical security, potential liability of the facility, and any incidents requiring documentation per company policy and procedure
Provide a high level of customer service to the Shrub Oak's students, staff and visitors
Provide accurate and detailed reports regarding security related incidents

Requirements:
Experience & Education:
High School diploma, GED or equivalent required required
Valid NYS Security Guard license or in the process of obtaining one*
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to quickly handle situations of high urgency at a moment’s notice
Working knowledge of the methods and techniques used in providing a full range of security, loss prevention and crime prevention services and activities including investigation, identification, patrolling, traffic control, crime prevention, care and custody of persons and property
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with an ability to express ideas clearly and concisely using strong written and verbal communication
Solid computer skills and excellent knowledge of security-based software systems, fire suppression systems and CCTV systems
Ability to do considerable walking to include climbing stairs in order to patrol the campus buildings and grounds and conduct inspections
Valid Driver’s license
Ability to get TCIS trained and remain current on all required trainings
Physical Requirements/Demands:
A workday regularly includes multiple or conflicting demands, deadlines and time pressures; work regularly requires sustained concentration. Standing for sustained periods of time, bending, stretching, walking and/or running up and down stairs (building has 6 floors), around a hilly campus, may also require walking between floors or between buildings at a moment’s notice. Need sufficient stamina to stand for up to 8 hours and work outside in inclement weather as needed. May be required to lift, carry, and/or drag up to 180 pounds.
Work Environment:
We are a boarding school located on a 127-acre campus. The work environment will include both indoor and outdoor spaces, mostly inside the classroom or educational environment. May include work within the residential setting. The building has 6 floors accessible by staircases and elevators.
