As part of Visa’s Global Corporate Communications team, the Senior Manager of Crisis and Issues Communications will support efforts to advance and protect the company’s reputation around the globe. The individual will: 

  • Support crisis preparedness by identifying and tracking potential threats to the organization and assisting with the development of protocols to mitigate those threats.

  • Serve as liaison to the company’s cross-functional crisis response group, which requires instant engagement, focus and execution under pressure – in addition to rotating coverage outside of business hours and partnering with regional teams on a follow-the-sun model. 

  • Develop strategies for specialized communications with stakeholder audiences 

  • Drive end-to-end execution and communication response efforts across a range of issues impacting Visa’s business and brand.

  • Develop and execute against a consistent framework for issues management response efforts and communications.

  • Engage with reporters on challenging issues. 

  • Regularly conduct reputation risk assessments and develop contingency plans to address the most pressing potential scenarios. 

  • Undertake reputation research and provide insights and analysis of critical business issues. 

  • Collaborate with agency partners on monitoring, reporting, research and materials development.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, including being a strong writer and operating as an excellent team player that collaborates well within their team and partner organizations. 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

- 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

- 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
- Experience applying best practices related to issues management and crisis preparedness and response
- Track record of successfully managing communications during times of crisis in a global, matrixed organization.
- Media relations experience, experience as a company spokesperson is helpful.
- Calm and cool under pressure. Attention to detail is critical.
- Strong writer with an understanding of how to use data and research to drive planning.
- Experience partnering with legal, risk, government engagement and other cross-functional partners.
- Experience in technology, payments or financial services industry a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree, minimum 10 years communication experience.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 142,400.00 to 206,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
